This is a replacement fuel pump for Polaris Ranger XP. This pump is more reliable than the stock one that commonly fails under normal loads. Polaris requires you to purchase a new fuel tank to replace the fuel pump. This runs over $480 to get another tiny, not so good pump. Our pump installs just like your stock one. No wiring or modifications are needed. Install time is 20-30 minutes. This is also the pump we recommend for turbo and modified engines. This pump flows about 35% more than the stock one does, so if you are making some serious power here is the answer to keep up with your fuel needs. Polaris calls for 39psi +-3psi. This means that if your pressure is not 36-42 psi you have a fuel pump issue. This is very common on these vehicles. Typically when the fuel pump fails it creates a problem with 25+ mph acceleration. Usually popping and sputtering. When checking your fuel pressure be sure to rev your engine and put it under a load, if you can safely. Just because it makes pressure at idle doesn't mean it will make pressure when revved or under a load. Replacing the fuel pump strainer regularly can be critically important-even if your fuel pump is functioning fine. The fuel pump strainer (also known as pre-filter or fuel sock) is the fuel system's first line of defense against contamination. The potential contaminants include dirt, dust, rust, and other fine particles found in regular pump gasoline. Contaminates collect in the fuel tank and can damage the fuel system and engine if they are not eliminated before they are injected into the fuel pump Gasoline has a tendency to varnish over time, leaving a thick filmy layer over everything inside the tank--from the fuel pump internals, to the tank walls--and especially the strainer/pre-filter.
