Orion 09007 SpaceProbe 130ST Equatorial Reflector Telescope (Black)

Orion 09007 SpaceProbe 130ST Equatorial Reflector Telescope (Black)

Our largest aperture SpaceProbe reflector telescope is the niftiest Newtonian reflector on an equatorial mount we've seen in a long time. The Orion SpaceProbe 130ST EQ Reflector Telescope is a step up from the standard SpaceProbe 130 EQ for the more serious beginning or intermediate stargazer who wants additional performance, particularly for targeting deep-sky objects. Just what's so nifty about the Orion SpaceProbe 130ST Equatorial Reflector Telescope? The answer is best described as short and sweet. First, the short. This ST, or Short Tube, version of the SpaceProbe 130 reflector is indeed more compact than the standard model. The 130ST reflector telescope's optical tube measures 24 inches long compared to 33 inches on the standard 130. The focal length of the ST's 130mm (5.1inch) primary mirror is 650mm (f/5), yielding a wider field of view and brighter images for a given telescope eyepiece focal length. That brings us to sweet. The 130mm aperture primary is a diffraction-limited parabolic mirror, the same type used on much larger reflector telescopes costing many times as much. On a short-focal-length design like this one, a parabolic mirror is a must for focusing incoming light to a point and delivering sharp, detailed images. Moreover, the secondary mirror is held in an advanced holder with thin 0.5mm metal vanes, to reduce diffraction spikes and light loss. These features combined with the included 25mm (26x power) and 10mm (65x power) Sirius Plossl telescope eyepieces and quick-release 6x30 achromatic finder scope make this one sweet optical system for astronomy! The SpaceProbe 130ST EQ reflector telescope also includes a collimation cap and center-marked primary mirror for easy optical alignment. The Orion SpaceProbe 130ST telescope comes on a sturdy and precise EQ-2 equatorial mount with dual setting circles and slow-motion hand controls.

Orion StarBlast II 4.5 Equatorial Reflector Telescope

Orion StarBlast II 4.5 Equatorial Reflector Telescope

A telescope is a great gift for families and beginners interested in space and the stars. Especially a telescope like the Orion StarBlast II 4.5 EQ. It's a genuine, real reflector telescope with sophisticated features to help inspire stargazers night after night. With its 4.5 inch-diameter reflector tube and sturdy equatorial (EQ) mount with slow-motion controls, this telescope goes beyond the capabilities of smaller beginner models to support families as their interest in space grows into a lifelong appreciation of stargazing and science. The compact Orion StarBlast II 4.5 EQ is a favorite of both beginners and expert astronomers alike, thanks to its great optics, convenient portability, and easy-to-use operation. The StarBlast II 4.5 EQ will amaze the whole family with bright views thanks to its big, 4.5 inch-aperture telescope tube, which collects a lot of light from the night sky to send bright, clear images of objects in space to the telescope eyepiece for viewing. The telescope's combination of short 450mm focal length and sizable 4.5 inch aperture means the StarBlast II 4.5 EQ will provide brighter views at any magnification compared to longer focal length telescopes, which makes it easier for everyone, and especially beginners, to locate interesting sights in the night sky. Using a telescope allows curious families to explore the sparkling night sky and search out interesting objects to observe. Use the StarBlast II 4.5 EQ to look at fascinating craters, valleys and mountains on the Moon; and bright planets like Jupiter, Saturn and Mars. Even distant objects like star clusters, brighter nebulas and galaxies can be seen in this petite reflector telescope. Along with the complete telescope, mount and tripod, the Orion Starblast II 4.5 Equatorial Reflector also includes 25mm and 10mm Sirius Plossl eyepieces (18x and 45x respectively), EZ Finder II sight, MoonMap 260 and more.

Meade Instruments 216006 Polaris 130 EQ Reflector Telescope (Blue)

Meade Instruments 216006 Polaris 130 EQ Reflector Telescope (Blue)

Developed for beginner and amateur astronomers, the Meade Polaris Series delivers an experience that will have you looking to the skies for many nights to come. Combining an equatorial mount and quality optics with superb value, the Meade Polaris refracting and reflecting telescopes are your gateway to the cosmos. The Polaris 130 reflecting telescope is the best telescope for beginners and amateurs who want to discover more. With a 130mm (5.1"") aperture size, the Polaris 130 will deliver bright, clear images for the aspiring astronomer to enjoy. Whether you're viewing the Moon, planets, or deep-sky objects such as nebulae, galaxies, and star clusters, the view through the Polaris 130 will keep you looking up for a long time. Pros: A larger aperture to get a better view of deep-sky objects Once polar aligned, the equatorial mount allows you to locate and track celestial objects because it rotates with the Earth, instead of the up-down left-right directions of an altazimuth mount Cons: Reflecting telescopes won't produce right-side up images, so terrestrial viewing is limited Q: How is this telescope different than other Polaris models (114, 90, 80, etc)? A:Aperture size and telescope type. The bigger the aperture, the more light-gathering power the telescope will have, resulting in brighter, detailed images. The Polaris 114, 127, and 130 are reflecting telescopes, meaning they use mirrors to produce an image. The Polaris 70, 80, and 90 are refracting telescopes, which use lenses to produce an image. The Polaris 130 has a 130mm aperture, the largest aperture of all the Polaris telescopes. Q: What is the difference between the Polaris 127 and the Polaris 130? A:The Polaris 130 has a 650mm focal length, ideal for large galaxies and nebulae. The 127 has a 1000mm focal length, great for smaller objects like planets.
