Oh Yuk Washing Machine Cleaner: What is the odor coming from my washing machine? Odor-causing mold and bacteria that has built up over time, feeding on the leftover dirt and oils from each wash. Are washing machines dirty even though you run detergent in each wash? Yes. All washing machines will develop a buildup of odor-causing mold, soap residue, scale, dirt, and oils behind the drum. This contamination may be present even if you cannot see it or smell it. Instructions: 1.)
