The fountain pen features a slimmer barrel than its predecessor, and a uniquely developed technique of applying the sea shell mosaic on the body of the pen. The Maestro Series fountain pens were produced in limited editions. Each pen is individually numbered. Fittings are .999 Platinum plated. It has a German-made medium point stainless steel nib and screw-on cap. The overall design concept of these pens utilizes Art Nouveau style and follows the natural colors and shapes of the sea shell material. Imagine holding an object polished to perfection and made of precious, glowing, iridescent natural sea shell. The sea shell panels range from green to black, along with red or blue overtones. No two pens are exactly alike. Due to the slight difference in weight of each of the sea shell panels involved in the production of these pens, the weight of each pen will vary slightly. Sea shells are natural materials; therefore, some distinctions in the texture of these materials may occur. The design concept involved combining elements of art nouveau style, such as a curved clip, with a high-tech, tungsten metallic finish and the beauty of natural black mother of pearl. The lower barrel is made with long panels of natural Tahitian black mother of pearl and is adorned with a hand-etched .999 Platinum-plated Greek key. The production of the lower barrel from natural black mother of pearl is art in itself. In order to produce the silky smooth finish and the richness of the black mother of pearl colors, the barrels are manually polished in several stages. This process takes around 2 weeks to complete, in order to bring out the unique colors of the material. Fittings are solid brass with Platinum plating and are hallmarked. The German-made MEDIUM size nib is fitted with an iridium point. The front part holding the nib is finished in a tungsten metallic color. The screw -on cap is produced from solid brass. The Maestro series began in 2002 and is known for incorporating classic Art Deco and Art Nouveau designs with modern techniques that keep the product feeling fresh and familiar. This special edition to the Maestro line reflects the coloring of the rhodochrosite mineral and pays tribute to the rich diversity of gemstones found on our Earth. Each pen is individually numbered. The solid brass barrel and screw-on cap are diamond cut in an elegant pattern and layered in 25 layers of high gloss translucent Swiss lacquers. After each layer of the lacquer is applied, the barrels of the pen are heat-dried and then manually polished to achieve a highly reflective surface with deep and rich colors and a 3-Dimensional appearance. The lacquering is done in clean room in which the humidity and temperature are controlled and airborne particles are eliminated as much as possible. It may take up to 3 days to finish each batch of pens when adding the lacquer and polishing to make sure there are no imperfections between layers. Platinum plated trimmings and exquisitely etched Greek key on band adds sophistication and detailing to this design.
